Anies Asks Center For Jakarta Flood Handling, PDIP Surprised: Wong Has Not Wanted To Carry Out Normalization All This Time

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Gembong Warsono criticized the statement from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan who asked the central government for assistance for Jakarta's development, one of which was flood management.

According to Gembong, it seems that Anies has given up hope that his flagship program can fix the flood problem when his term of office will end soon. The Anies program referred to by Gembong is river naturalization.

In fact, according to him, the main program of the DKI Provincial Government in alleviating the flood problem is river normalization.

"Yesterday what was conveyed (Anies) was to solve the flood problem, especially in the Ciliwung River, right? But what? Wong has so far refused to do it (normalization). He remains steadfast in the naturalization program," said Gembong when contacted, Monday, April 18 .

Therefore, said Gembong, Anies finally asked the central government to help the DKI Provincial Government in overcoming this classic problem in Jakarta.

"I saw, at the end of his term, he closed the failure by throwing the responsibility to the central government. He begged the central government to help normalize the river. It was as if the central government was not helping," said Gembong. In the Ciliwung river normalization program In this case, the DKI Provincial Government has the task of freeing residential land on the banks of the river. After that, the central government will work on the construction of widening the river from the land that has been acquired as an effort to normalize it.

Gembong assessed that Anies seemed to have forgotten that flood management was not optimal because of his own attitude. This is because the central government has actually allocated the state budget for three consecutive years to carry out the normalization program.

However, the budget has not been disbursed because Anies and his staff have not yet acquired the land needed for normalization.

Only in 2022, the DKI Provincial Government has budgeted around Rp. 1.1 trillion through a National Economic Recovery Fund (PEN) loan for the acquisition of residential land in the normalization program.

"Only this year there is an allocation for land acquisition. In fact, land acquisition is not easy. But this is done at the end of his term of office, because Pak Anies still believes that his flagship program is to enter water into the bowels of the earth through infiltration wells. It turns out that the infiltration well program has failed miserably," he added.
