JAKARTA - At the Amazon Cloud Day 2023 event, Amazon Web Services (AWS) released a recent report revealing that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that utilize cloud and other cloud-based technologies are projected to generate up to IDR 79.6 trillion annually by 2030.

The report, which was initiated by AWS and organized by Accenture entitled "Realizing a Cloud-enabled Economy: How Cloud Drives Economic and Societal Impact Through Micro, Small, And Medium-Sized Businesses", describes the potential benefits of cloud migration against MSMEs in responding to various social issues.

The report states that some of the benefits of using cloud technology for MSMEs include facilitating health consultations, increasing access to education, improving precision agricultural techniques, and much more.

In the health care sector, for example, the cloud is empowered to help answer one of the main challenges, namely the limited access to health services in underdeveloped communities.

Thus, MSMEs are estimated to be able to generate up to IDR 6 trillion annually through increased productivity in the health care sector, and support the implementation of 7 million long-distance health consultations in Indonesia by 2030.

While in the education sector, the cloud is empowered to help answer the challenges of accessibility and education inclusiveness through the use of digital platforms.

This report estimates that these MSMEs can generate up to IDR 15 trillion every year through increasing productivity in the education sector and providing e-learning solutions for 21 million students in Indonesia by 2030.

Meanwhile, in the agricultural sector, cloud-powered MSMEs help answer problems related to food shortages, including through the use of cloud-based technology that prioritizes data such as AI solutions.

Another impact is creating 17.6 million jobs in the fields of health, education, and agriculture services, or equivalent to 12 percent of the total employment opportunities in Indonesia.
