The latest iPhone 15 Pro Max buyer from Apple in several countries, including China, Japan, and the United States, may have to wait until November to get the smartphone. This is an early sign of a flood of demand for this company when it begins to receive orders on Friday, September 15.

These signs are likely to ease concerns about demand for Apple's flagship devices following a decline in the global smartphone market which reduced iPhone sales in the June quarter.

The wait period of four to five weeks for the iPhone 15 Pro Max in China could also allay concerns about the financial impact on Apple's third-largest market amid growing competition with Huawei and restrictions on the use of iPhones by Beijing's government staff.

The waiting period is a little shorter for the iPhone 15 Pro in China, which is two to three weeks, according to Apple's website. Apple also said it could ship the iPhone 15 on September 22, the day the phone will be sold in stores.

In the top market of the United States, buyers will have to wait six to seven weeks before getting Pro Max, the most expensive model in the iPhone 15 product line launched last week. The waiting period is five to six weeks for similar models in Japan.

However, like in China, waiting period is shorter for Pro models, with a period of only two to three weeks for versions of 128 gigabytes in the US and Japan.

Some analysts say that the long waiting period also reflects a lower initial supply for Pro Max as Apple faces problems in obtaining screen supplies used in this model with thinner bezels than previous iPhones.

However, these issues have been resolved, according to Nabila Popal, research director for global tracking groups at IDC.

"We hope Apple will be fully operational ahead of the holidays with deliveries that strongly support the Pro Max model, which should provide a good improvement in Apple's average selling price," Popal said.

Strong Order From China

The high-end iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models sold out at Apple stores on Alibaba's Tmall market within one minute of sales opening, China's local media reports.

At JD.com, one of Apple's largest sales channels in China, more than 3.4 million reservations were placed in total for four iPhone 15 models ahead of the e-commerce platform.

"Since Huawei's decline, the iPhone has been able to attract large numbers of consumers in the segment above 600 US dollars (Rp 9.2 million)," said Ivan Lam, senior analyst at Counterpoint.

"The new iPhone 15 series, especially the Pro series, will be a good choice for users' bases that use the iPhone 11/12 and look for updates," Lam said, adding that Huawei's Mate 60 series would be a challenge for the iPhone.

Huawei launched a smartphone with its advanced chips late last month and that could be the beginning of the rise of this Chinese technology company, formerly the world's largest smartphone manufacturer before its business was destroyed by US export controls, analysts say.

State media reported this week that better sales than expected have prompted Huawei to increase its target second-half Mate 60 series delivery by 20% and its overall new smartphone delivery forecast by 2023 to at least 40 million units.

The launch of Mate 60 by Huawei is unusual because Huawei did not conduct previous marketing or organize a glamorous event. The company will hold an event on September 25, where it is expected to discuss their new smartphone.
