Thousands Of Kenyans Interested In Worldcoin, Project Executives Coming To Parliament

In July, as many as 350,000 Kenyans have subscribed and shown interest in accepting Worldcoin crypto tokens. According to a Kenyan legislator, Worldcoin executives are scheduled to appear before a parliamentary committee on September 4.

A Kenyan parliamentary committee tasked with investigating Worldcoin's activities in the East African state recently revealed that as many as 350,000 residents had shown interest in the project before the government stopped it. According to the committee, Kenyan customers were one-quarter of Worldcoin's global total at a time in July.

However, as noted in a report published by The Star, the total World ID registrations from 34 different countries reached more than 2.26 million in August. In addition, the organization claimed in a blog post on August 31 that demand for World ID was increasing. To prove this, Worldcoin has shown its recent number of record registrations in Argentina.

While the Worldcoin team continues to boast several project achievements, Kenyan officials appear to be taking a tough approach to the entity and its local affiliates. In addition, Kenya's court reportedly supported the government's decision to stop Worldcoin's activities in the country.

Meanwhile, the investigation committee chaired by Narok West legislator Gabriel Tongoyo heard how some people failed to cash out their tokens. However, Tongoyo revealed that the owner of Worldcoin will soon appear in Kenya's parliament to answer issues related to the crypto project.

"They will appear on Monday next week [4 September]... with travel issues, they have told us they will not be here as planned, so we have made the necessary adjustments to our program," the legislator said, quoted by bitcoin.com.

Tongoyo added that the Solicitor General Shadrack Mose and the country's Data Commissioner, Immaculate Kassait, are also expected to appear before the committee.
