JAKARTA - Instagram is reportedly going to extend the duration of Reels again, as a strategy to beat the markets of its competitors, TikTok and YouTube.

First reported by the developer and leaker of the mobile app, Alessandro Paluzzi sees, Instagram has added the duration to 10 minutes which was previously only 3 minutes.

Seeing the screenshots shared by Paluzzi, it looks like Meta's social media will provide two duration options to record Reels videos, meaning Instagram won't remove its short duration of 3 minutes.

Knowing this news, Meta confirmed to Engadget quoted Thursday, August 31, that the company is indeed testing the new feature internally, which has not or has not been shared with the public.

With the presence of this long duration, it will turn Instagram into a strong video sharing platform like TikTok and YouTube.

But its biggest competitor, TikTok also has a similar feature first, even this platform owned by ByteDance has adopted a video recording duration of up to 20 minutes in its paid service.

For information confiscated from The Verge, Instagram has changed many Reels features to increase user interest by adding new editing and template methods to recreate viral content.
