Chinese technology company Xiaomi first developed CyberDog two years ago to compete with a similar product from a competitor company, Boston Dynamics, Spot.

Now, Xiaomi is introducing an improved model, called CyberDog 2, which is smarter and better resembles dogs. Most importantly, this model is more like a dog than just a robotic creature with legs.

This was achieved because CyberDog 2 has a number of features that resemble Doberman dogs, including adorable ears. This four-foot robot is also smaller and lighter than its predecessor, weighing only 19 pounds (8.9 kg) compared to CyberDog which weighs 31 pounds (14 kg).

Engineers at Xiaomi stated that CyberDog 2 is 40 percent smaller than the company's first dog robot.

CyberDog 2 also has better mobility and is capable of making various impressive moves such as back jumps, ballet movements, shaking its buttocks, and even'moving in space'. Even this robot can also skateboard.

The robot is equipped with more precise control and has a system of detection and decision-making with 19 sensors for vision, touch and hearing.

The robot is about 14 inches (35 cm) tall, compared to CyberDog's 15.7 inches (39 cm), and thanks to its dynamical balance, it should be able to stop itself from falling.

Xiaomi has also equipped CyberDog 2 with self-learning artificial intelligence, which has been generated from a sample of 30,000 robot dog models produced by computers. Thus, it should behave like a robot dog in general.

The company empowers this robotic artificial intelligence with a multi-brain system, where its main brain uses an NX processor, and its two secondary brains are powered by a double co-processor.

However, this increase was also followed by an increase in prices. CyberDog 2 is priced at 1,800 US dollars (Rp27.1 million), compared to the first model to sell for 1,540 US dollars (Rp23.2 million).

Powered by an internal battery that can last 90 minutes before it needs to be recharged via USB-C, this robot can be controlled using a remote or smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity.

With four legs and animal-like agility, CyberDog 2 is similar to Spot, a dog-like robot from US company Boston Dynamics.Spot was first sold in 2020 and has a fairly high price of $75,000.

This dog robot is more aimed at companies to help industry employees such as construction, defense, and building preservation.

Even Elon Musk's company, SpaceX, has used Spot to check launch sites as soon as the rocket explodes.
