JAKARTA - Google has again added capabilities to its Artificial Intelligence (AI) based search engine version, Search Generative Experience (SGE). Now, this tool can summarize web pages.

SGE will use Google's AI to generate a list of key points on the page a user is browsing.

On some web pages visited, users can view an AI-generated list of key points based on the article, with links that will take the user directly to what was looking for on the page.

"We'll also help you dig deeper with Explore on the page, where you can see the questions the article answered and jump to the relevant section to learn more," Google said in its official statement, quoted Wednesday, August 16.

It should be noted, SGE will only display bullet points in articles that are freely available to the public on the web.

This tool will not work on articles marked as paywalled, and the publisher is in control.

The new feature can be enabled in the company's experimental Search Lab section, which is available in the Google app on Android and iOS, and will be coming to the desktop version of Chrome in the coming days.

Google is also rolling out the ability for SGE to find terms they don't understand or might want more information on, such as those related to science, economics, history and more.

"With this update, you'll be able to hover over certain words to preview definitions and see related charts or images on those topics. From here, you can click on them to learn more," Google said.

Furthermore, SGE is also made SGE to make it easier to understand and debug the generated code. Currently, SGE provides AI-generated overviews to assist with tasks across a number of programming languages and tools.

However, with an update that Google is rolling out, code segments in the overview will now be color coded with syntax highlighting, making it quicker and easier to identify elements such as keywords, comments as well as strings, helping users understand the code they are viewing better at a glance.
