Shin Tae-yong's Praise For Indonesian National Team Players After Beating Brunei 6-0

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team won 6-0 over Brunei Darussalam in the second leg of the 2026 World Cup Qualification first round, Tuesday, October 17. In this match, coach Shin Tae-yong proved his remarks on rotation.

Shin changed the line-up in the second leg to 70 percent. However, the strength of the Garuda Squad remains too strong for the hosts.

The coach appreciated his players who continued to show a high fighting spirit and were not careless.

"We compared the first match squad with the second. Almost 70 percent were replaced and the players themselves really worked hard and played well," said Shin, after the match.

"Even though playing away, I didn't let my guard down, so I thank the players," he continued, as reported by Antara.

Shin rotated in a number of sectors and gave confidence to the players who were not played in the first leg. However, the superiority of the Indonesian team over Brunei, which was felt, did not make coach Shin underestimate his opponent.

"I can't judge anything against the Brunei team. If it forms good infrastructure, Brunei football will have hope to develop in the future," said the South Korean coach.

PSS Sleman striker Hokky Caraka was again given the opportunity to play by coach Shin, and he responded by contributing two goals in the first half.

"Yes, everyone, first of all, I thank coach Shin Tae-yong for trusting me and maybe this is because of the team's hard work so I can get maximum results, and hopefully the better our game will be," said Hokky.

Aggregate 12-0 victory over Brunei led Indonesia to qualify for the second phase of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone. Indonesia will inhabit Group F with Iraq, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
