David Beckham Denies Rumors Of Being Manchester United's Ambassador

JAKARTA David Beckham denied rumors he would become ambassador to Manchester United (MU) if the club was bought by Qatar tycoon Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

Beckham previously agreed to partner with Qatar when the country hosted the FIFA World Cup last year. At that time this Manchester United legend took on the role of the tournament ambassador which drew a lot of criticism.

Therefore, Beckham's claim is likely to take on the role of ambassador at Old Trafford if the MU purchase process is successful.

The rumors were immediately denied by Victoria's husband. He said that no discussion whatsoever about the particular position to be offered to him.

"There is currently no talk yet," the former star of the England and Manchester United national teams told CNBC.

"I have a longstanding relationship with Qatar because of my involvement with PSG, but there is no discussion at this time," he added.

MU is currently in demand by several tycoons, the Glazer family, raising its intention to sell the club 11 months ago. Apart from Jassim, Sir Jim Radcliffe also made an offer, but the agreement has not been available until now.

Relations with Qatar made Beckham also seen as a potential bridge for new owners. Beckham is well known by the group Qatar Sports Investments which has the PSG he has defended.

Last year when he was ambassador to Qatar's 2022 World Cup, Beckham was paid 10 million to support the tournament's success.
