Prohibited From Competing For 3 Years Due To Positive Doping, Heavyweight Boxer Kamil Sokolowski Is Already Intending To Retire

JAKARTA - Polish heavyweight boxer who is now domiciled in England, Kamil Sokolowski has been banned from competing for three years.

The statement was made by the British anti-doping agency (UKAD) because Sokolowski tested positive for using the banned substance. That was when the 37-year-old boxer was defeated by Frazer Clarke in November last year.

During the re-examination, UKAD again found the results of an analysis that did not match the urine test, after the six-round match.

"Polish professional boxer Kamil Sokolowski is banned from all sports for 3 years after the violation of the Anti-Doping Regulation (ADRV) for the Presence and Use of Prohibited Substances," the UKAD statement said on its official website quoted on Wednesday, September 20.

"On November 12, 2022, the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) collected urine samples in a competition from Mr. Sokolowski after his fight against Frazer Clarke at the AO Arena in Manchester. Analysis of Mr. Sokolowski's sample resulted in Harmful Analytic Findings (Adverse Analystical Findings - AAF) for his testosterone and metabolic originating from exogenous sources," the statement continued.

According to UKAD, testosterone is listed under the S1.1 section of the 2022 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Banned List as an anabolic androgenic steroid. On April 21, 2023, UKAD notified Sokolowski of AAF and gave him a temporary suspension from sports.

"Mr. Sokolowski responded to the UKAD notification on April 30, 2023, indicating that he used supplements he believes contain prohibited substances found in his sample," said UKAD.

"On May 26, 2023, UKAD charged Sokolowski with accusations of ADRV for the existence and use of prohibited substances. Mr. Sokolowski acknowledged ADRV and received a period of null and void."

"In accordance with Article 10.8.1 ADR, Mr. Sokolowski can reduce the 4-year misbehavior period which is alleged to be 3 years, after acknowledging violations and receiving the alleged period of abuse within 20 days of the letter of prosecution," the statement read.

With this punishment, Sokolowski was confirmed to have just returned to the ring when he was four. Whereas since debuting on September 6, 2014, the fighter who was born on April 17, 1986 has recorded a record 11-28-3 (4KO).

However, this punishment actually doesn't really bother the boxer. The reason is, he has already expressed his intention to hang up his boxing gloves after his defeat to Frazer Clarke.
