Hong Kong Open 2023: Apri/Fadia Advance To Semifinals

JAKARTA The fourth semifinal ticket for Indonesia at the Hong Kong Open 2023 was obtained by women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

The owner of the 2021 SEA Games gold medal got a ticket after successfully overcoming the resistance of representatives of China, Li Wen Mei/Liu Xiang Xuan, two straight games 21-15 and 21-13, Friday, September 15.

In this match, Apri / Fadia only got resistance at the beginning of the game. In the first game the two pairs chased numbers and created six identical scores until the last position was 11-11.

Meanwhile, in the second game, the Chinese pair were only able to identify the score three times. After 5-5, they continued to fall behind Apri/Fadia.

"Our initial points were also overtaken, but from after the interval of the first game we tried to be closer, more compact, we finally managed to outperform them from start to finish," said Fadia after the match.

"As a Chinese couple, I have met them many times in the past. The type of game has not changed much," he added.

Apri/Fadia will then face Maiken Fruergaard/Sara Thygesen. The Danish pair qualified for the semifinals after beating eighth seed Rena Miyaura/Ayako Sakuramoto.

Before Apri/Fadia, Indonesia had secured three tickets through Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan.
