Battery Power Disappears Suddenly, Tens Of Thousands Of Ford Mustang Mach-E Units Withdrawn

JAKARTA - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently busy handling a number of safety cases involving several vehicle models in the United States.

One of them is the Mustang Mach-E, which is now being asked to be recalled at the request of the NHTSA division known as the Office of Protects Investigation (ODI). This recall involves more than 60,000 vehicles.

According to a report from Reuters on Monday, August 21, NHTSA announced that as many as 64,727 units of the Mustang Mach-E must be recalled after receiving 12 complaints from consumers.

One of the owners of the Mustang Mach-E reported that its vehicle had problems in the high-voltage battery connection box after obtaining a software update two days earlier.

While driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles, the owner of Mach-E received a "Service Vehicle Soon" warning. In addition, the car's power is limited to 30 percent, although it can still be used and he can continue his journey to the nearest dealer.

Another Mach-E owner, who comes from Florida, is in trouble with an interior screen featuring the message "Safely Stop Now". This makes the car stop automatically in the middle of the road after he charges Mach-E on a fast DC charger.

Even though the car stopped completely, he could revive it after about three hours, but the car stopped again after traveling about 2 km.

This is not the first time the Mach-E Mustang has faced problems with its internal components. Last year, Ford had to recall as many as 48,924 units of the crossover in the US as its battery components could get too hot after charging the DC charger, which resulted in battery draining power and excessive temperature on the vehicle. To address the issue, Ford provides technical services by replacing the high voltage battery connection box in affected vehicles.
