Three High School Students In East Jakarta Win 1st Place In International Science And Medicine Olympics

JAKARTA - Three students of SMA Unggulan MH Thamrin, Cipayung, East Jakarta won first place in the 2023 International Science and Medical Olympics (Medspin).

The high school-level Olympics were attended by 6000 participants from 25 regions in Indonesia to abroad. The three students who won the championship were Azizah Bhonita Zahra, Axel Manurung, and Valentino Goksir.

From Azizah's statement, he also received ticket goals to Certificates (SK) from the rectorate of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga (FK Unair) as a support for prospective students to register at the campus through the achievement path.

However, the ticket goal was only obtained by one student from the three students. In addition, later there will also be accumulated points from other achievements, both academic and non-academic.

"Obviously I am grateful to have this opportunity (Golden Tiket FK Unair). Alhamdullilah, my hard work and stay up late have paid off," Azizah told reporters, Wednesday, November 22.

Valentino, another student added that he was happy to win first place in the competition which was on an international scale. Although he admitted that he had experienced difficulties during the quarter-finals, when presenting the results of the diagnosis given by FK Unair students.

"There are certainly difficulties. Because there is a lot of material that we finally have to be able to manage to divide the material. Of course, every round there must be difficulties, especially in the quarter-finals," he said.

The same thing was also said by Axel, another student who achieved achievements. Axel revealed that the results achieved by his team were lessons that had been prepared to participate in the competition since 2022.

"We will also participate in 2022, but we cannot win one place. Starting from that we prepare by collecting more medical books, physical books, biological books, and we also carry out bonding with each other for stronger cooperation. Auto Immun diseases became the theme of Medspin this year," he said.

For information, the race, which has been selected since November 5, 2023, will hold a preliminary round for the regional level in several regions. The number of participants at the high school level of the Olympics was attended by 6,000 participants from 25 regions.
