Garut Youth Shows Off Firearms Arrested, 1 Senpi And 1 Airsoft Gun Seized

JAKARTA - The Garut Resort Police (Polres) arrested a young man in Garut Regency for showing off a video of him firing a firearm (senpi).

The young man was arrested to account for his actions with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

"The perpetrator was carrying a homemade firearm. We have examined several witnesses, the suspect was arrested with the initials S who had a weapon," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha during a press conference in the case of the arrest of a firearm owner in Garut, Monday, November 20, confiscated by Antara.

He said the police had uncovered a case of a video shooting of firearms that had been spread, and caused public unrest in Garut Regency.

The police, he said, immediately moved to carry out an investigation until they were finally able to uncover a firearm in one of the housing estates in Garut, and then managed to catch the culprit.

"Based on the results of the investigation by the Garut Police Satreskrim, the TKP in a residential area of Garut Regency," he said.

Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Ari Rinaldo, added that his party arrested the owner of a homemade firearm without permission, which was busy with videos of his gunshot eruption. The police received a report on the distribution of the video on November 16, 2023, then an investigation was carried out and looked for the culprit who was arrested at a cafe in the urban area of Garut.

"We have received news that the suspect who used and detonated the firearm according to the video is the suspect we arrested today," he said.

Ari revealed that during the arrest, evidence of one homemade firearm was secured, and one air softgun he admitted bought it online by means of on-site payments.

The suspect, he said, admitted that he was a member of the Police Buser Team, and admitted that he had owned the weapon three months ago.

"One softgun that is one homemade weapon that we have secured from the suspect. It has been more than three months owned by the suspect," said Ari.

As a result of his actions, the suspect must now languish in the Garut Police detention center for further legal examination and be charged with Article 1 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 12 of 1951 or the Emergency Law with a penalty of 10 years in prison.
