Residents Asked To Be Careful, There Are 50 Crocodiles In Dawan Jambi Bay

JAMBI - The Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) team noted that for now the habitat of estuarine crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) in Dawan Bay, Muara Sabak Barat District, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, there are 50.

"From the results of the survey that we have conducted since 2019 until now, we recorded that it is five kilometers long in Dawan Bay where there are about 50 estuarine crocodiles that are large to small in size," said Jambi BKSDA Forestry Police Jefrianto as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 13.

Muara crocodiles also have activities such as sunbathing or rising to land level to look for something, therefore it is not surprising that many estuarine crocodiles rise to the surface or land.

Just like what happened at Dawan Bay Bridge, how many weeks ago, the appearance of a pair of large estuarine crocodiles is estimated to be two to three meters long along the surface of water along Dawan Bay, so that it attracts the attention of the public and the video is circulating on social media.

"It is very likely that the appearance of the estuarine crocodile in Dawan Bay is estimated to be entering the mating period, because what went viral yesterday was the appearance of a pair of crocodiles, but it is also not certain whether it is true or not, it could be just to find food," said Jefrianto.

The Jambi BKSDA also appealed to the community, especially those living side by side with wildlife habitats, to always be careful.

"We have certainly appealed to the public to be careful because it is the habitat of crocodiles, lest there be negative interactions between the community and their crocodiles, especially those adjacent," he said.
