KPU: Determination Of Candidates For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates For The 2024 Election Is Still On Schedule

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said the determination of the presidential candidate pair (candidate) and vice presidential candidate (cawapres) for the 2024 presidential election will be carried out according to schedule, namely November 13, 2023. "The determination is still on schedule (13 November)," said Hasyim during a press conference at the KPU RI Jakarta Building, quoted from Antara, Friday, November 3. Hasyim added that currently the process of determining the 2024 election participants, especially the presidential and vice presidential candidates, is still in the verification stage. "Currently it is still under verification, the final will be on November 13", he added. This stage is an important step in ensuring that all candidates meet the requirements and criteria set by the Indonesian KPU before being announced as the official participants of the 2024 presidential election. Then, after the process of determining the presidential and vice presidential candidates, the next step is to draw serial numbers for each candidate pair on November 14. "On November 14, 2023, we will draw serial numbers for each pair of candidates who are designated as permanent candidates for the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs," he explained. Meanwhile, for the 2024 Legislative Election, the Indonesian KPU has determined 9,917 lists of permanent candidates (DCT) for members of the DPR RI from 18 parties participating in the 2024 General Election spread across 84 electoral districts (dapil). "For DCT members of the DPR RI in the 2024 election, after we verified, the number that met the requirements to enter DCT was 9,917," said Hasyim. For DCT members of the DPD, the Indonesian KPU has appointed 668 candidates for 38 electoral districts, consisting of 535 men and 133 women. The Indonesian KPU has received registrations for three presidential and vice presidential pairs for the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The Anies-Muhaimin pair was promoted by the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummah Party. The Ganjar-Mahfud pair was promoted by the DPI Perjuangan, the United Development Party (PPP), the Perindo Party, and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).

Meanwhile, the Prabowo-Gibran pair were promoted by the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Gelora Party, the Garuda Party, and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), and the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) who did not qualify to participate in the 2024 General Election. The Indonesian KPU has set an election campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the vote is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
