TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono hopes that his replacement will protect the TNI, which consists of land, sea and air dimensions, remains solid and professional.

Yudo believes that hope is not only from him, but is the hope of all parties.

"Of course, our hope as the TNI Commander is about to retire and there is already a replacement behind me. So, I hope that the TNI will remain solid, professional, modern, resilient TNI, so that in facing every threat, the TNI will be ready," said the TNI Commander as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 1.

He again emphasized that the TNI Commander who replaced him needed to realize that hope.

"I'm sure this is not my hope (only), but all expectations. The TNI must be the same, yes, it must be the same. The TNI is professional, modern, tough, and solid, especially the Army, Navy, and Air Force, because it is in one forum for the joint operation organization of the TNI," said Admiral Yudo.

TNI Admiral Yudo Margono served as Commander in December 2022 and will retire at the end of December 1, 2023 or a few days after he was 58 years old.

Article 53 of Law Number 34 concerning the Indonesian National Army (UU TNI) regulates TNI officers retiring at the age of 58 years, while non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel at the age of 53 years.

Meanwhile, Agus Subiyanto, who served as Army Chief of Staff on Friday (27/10), was proposed by President Joko Widodo to the DPR as the sole candidate for TNI Commander, Monday (30/10).

The next stage after the DPR received the presidential decree, Commission I of the DPR held an internal meeting, including to determine the fit and proper test schedule for the candidate for the TNI Commander proposed by the President.

In the series of fit and proper tests, there is also verification of documents that are the requirements and actual verification, namely a direct review of the home or residence of the candidate for the TNI Commander in Chief.

Regarding the process, General Agus admitted that he was ready to undergo the series of stages. "God willing, God willing," said Agus.

However, Agus emphasized that currently he is still focused on carrying out his duties as Army Chief of Staff while following the series of nomination stages as TNI Commander.

"Later, it's not clear. What is clear is that I am still concentrating on being Kasad, (led by the TNI) in the land dimension," said Agus Subiyanto when met by reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the National Food Security Movement in Cibitung, Bekasi, West Java, Wednesday.
