Tabalong Police Check Wall Contractor Collapses At Batuah Market

TABALONG - Tabalong Resort Police, South Kalimantan held an initial case by examining contractors and consultants related to collapsed walls at Batuah Tanjung Market.

Tabalong Police Chief AKBP Anib Bastian said investigators suspected that there was an element of negligence that caused the victim to be seriously injured based on the results of the investigation at the scene.

"We have secured a number of evidences and conducted initial cases by interviewing witnesses, contractors and PPTK," Anib said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 31.

The police also consulted with experts in building construction and criminal law experts, regarding the collapsed building in the vegetable market which caused two seriously injured victims.

Previously, the Tabalong Police Satreskrim led by Iptu Galih Putra Wiratama together with the Tanjung Police, led by AKP Triyanto, secured and conducted a crime scene investigation.

The vegetable market building collapsed due to strong winds on Tuesday afternoon, causing two seriously injured victims, namely Maria Tanur (55) from Belimbing Raya Village, Murung Pudak District and Muhammad Khalid (49) from Tanjung Village.

Anib said that the confession of a number of witnesses to the market building collapsed when a strong wind occurred and fell right above the stalls of vegetables and food stalls belonging to the victim Maria Tanur, while the food that was hit by the wall collapsed at the shop owned by the victim Muhammad Khalid.

Both of them suffered serious injuries and were immediately assisted by residents and volunteers from the Mura Self-Help Disaster Management Unit (UPBS) to the H Badaruddin Kasim Hospital.

"The victim Maria suffered lacerations to the head and a broken left hand, while Khalid suffered lacerations to the left side of the head," said Anib.

As a result of this incident, physical losses included eight stalls of vegetables and food stalls and damaged a unit of a metic scooter motorcycle.
