Observer: Gibran Rakabuming Raka Becomes Prabowo's Truf Card To Raise Millennial-Gen Z's Voice

Political Observer of Airlangga University (Unair) Hari Fitrianto stated that Gibran Rakabuming Raka was a truck card for Prabowo Subianto to gain millennial and generation Z voters in the 2024 presidential election.

"Gibran is the only candidate under 40 years old, while Pak Prabowo is a senior 'citizen'," said Hari in Surabaya, Sunday, October 29.

The role of the Mayor of Surakarta, Central Java, is to cut the 'gap' or age difference between Prabowo Subianto and millennials and gen z.

The difference in age background makes Gibran better able to understand the trends of issues that are developing among young people.

"You can imagine the impact if in terms of voters there is only Gibran who represents that age," he said as quoted by Antara.

Young voters consisting of a permanent list of millennials (DPT) and gen Z have a relatively large number at next year's democratic party which will reach 56.45 percent.

In detail, he said, the millennial DPT reached 68,822,389 voters or 33.60 percent and voters from generation Z of 46,800,161 voters or 22.85 percent of the total DPT total of 204,807,222 voters.

Hari said that the opportunity to reap the votes of young voters was indeed open to the Prabowo-Gibran pair, but President Joko Widodo's eldest son must first build a strong image as a figure who represents young people.

"So it's just a matter of how Gibran can convince them (millennials and gen Z)," he said.

The Indonesian KPU has opened a registration period for presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election on 19-25 October 2023.
