YOGYAKARTA - Arief Hidayat became one of the judges who rejected that the regional head's decision not yet 40 years old could be a presidential-Cawapres candidate. Nine judges at the Constitutional Court have completed the discussion of the case lawsuit meeting related to the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

The reason is through this decision, the Constitutional Court allows people who are not yet 40 years old to run for president or vice president as long as they have experience being regional heads or other positions elected through general elections.

Arief Hidayat is not a new judge in the Constitutional Court and has held this important position since the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). Arief Hidayat was born in Semarang, Central Java, on February 3, 1956. Arief underwent childhood to teenagers in his hometown, starting from elementary to high school. After that, he continued his higher education at Diponegoro University (Undip) and succeeded in completing his Bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Law in 1980.

After obtaining a Bachelor's degree, Arief Hidayat continued his master's degree in Postgraduate Education Program at Airlangga University (Unair) and graduated in 1984. Still wanting to continue to improve his competence and knowledge, Arief took a doctoral degree in the Diponegoro University (Undip) Law Sciences Doctorate Program and completed it in 2006.

Arief Hidayat underwent marriage and household life with Tundjung Herning Sitabuana. Arief and his wife have 2 children, namely Adya Paramita Prabandari and Airlangga Surya Nagara. He also predicted 3 grandchildren named Indrasta Alif Yudistira, Diandra Paramita Surya Nagara, and Darajatun Herjendra Surya Nagara.

Before deciding to plunge into the world of justice in the country, Arief Hidayat focused on education as a teacher at Diponegoro University (Undip). Arief has also been an Extraordinary Lecturer at the Faculty of Law Programs S2 and S3 in a number of state and private universities in Indonesia.

In addition to his busy schedule as a teacher at that time, Arief Hidayat also held the position of chairman in several professional organizations. Arief served as an important position in a number of organizations, starting from the Chairman of the Central Java HTN-HAN Teaching Association, the Head of the Center for Democracy and Constitutional Law Studies, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Gender Perspective Teaching and Learning Association, and the Chairperson of the Center for Environmental Law Studies.

Not only as an educator and active in the organization, Arief is also productive in producing scientific works both in the form of papers and books. In 2008, Arief Hidayat became a professor at Undip and also held the position of dean.
