KPU Reminds Political Parties To Fulfill The Requirements For Registering Candidates For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates

The General Election Commission (KPU) reminded the supporting political parties to meet the requirements for submitting a list of candidates for president and vice president when registering with the KPU.

KPU member Idham Holik emphasized that his party would return the required documents for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates which were considered incomplete.

"We have also conveyed that political parties or coalitions of political parties meet the requirements to submit a list of candidates for presidential-vice-presidential candidates to fulfill all required administrative completeness," said Idham as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 16.

Idham explained that the registration of prospective presidential and vice-presidential candidates would be accepted by the KPU if the requirements were complete. If it is not complete, then the supporting political parties are required to complete the time of registration for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"If the documents are complete, then we will receive them. If the documents are incomplete, then we will return the registration documents," he explained.

The time span given by the KPU is to improve the completeness of documents during the registration period for presidential and vice-presidential candidates on 19-24 October 2023.

Idham said that if the required documents for the presidential and vice presidential candidates had been declared complete, the KPU would conduct a health check. The KPU will facilitate health checks at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD).

"We will conduct a health check on the prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates. The plan is for the health examination site at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital and the KPU to also form a team of health examination doctors," said Idham.

The KPU has issued KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 19 of 2023 concerning the Registration of Presidential Candidates and Vice Presidential Candidates for the 2024 General Election. In the PKPU, the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election is opened on 19-25 October 2023 at the KPU RI Office, Jakarta.

The KPU has started to socialize the registration of prospective presidential election participants starting Monday, Wednesday (18/10) or the day before registration opens.

Registration time on October 19-24, 2023 is open at 08.00 WIB-16.00 WIB, while on October 25 it is closed until 23.59 WIB.
