Acting Governor Bey Machmudin Ensures Security For The 2024 Election In West Java

BANDUNG - Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, said that all areas in West Java are a priority for security during the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) period.

All potential security disturbances in West Java, he said, have been identified by the ranks of security for the TNI, Polri, and related agencies, so that it is hoped that this five-year democratic party can run safely and conducively.

"Everything is a priority for security, nothing is lower and higher. Of course the National Police-TNI have prepared all possibilities and become a concern, election security is the main thing," he said, at the Infantry Brigade Field 15/Kujang, Cimahi, West Java, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 12.

In the 2024 election process, he appealed to people who already have the right to vote to ensure that their names have been listed in the Permanent Voter List (DPT) set by the General Elections Commission (KPU) as the first most crucial thing.

The reason, he said, this is often a source of problems in every election event, because it not only harms the rights of voters, but also affects the results of decisions in the election.

"So the most crucial first stage is certainty registered with the DPT, not to meet the requirements but not to be listed, because this is important. The next crucial thing is during the campaign, we also believe that all legislative participants, presidential and vice-presidential candidates will follow the rules that have been enforced," he said.

Then, he said, for sympathizers and supporters of the candidates who often feel various feelings during the election announcement, they must remember that the stages of general elections, especially voting and counting, have witnesses.

"But if we object to that, we are a democratic country, the delivery of aspirations is a right, but it must be remembered, please don't be anarchic and so on," he said.

Meanwhile, at the same location, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Wiyagus, revealed that as many as two-thirds of the police personnel in West Java were deployed for security during the 2024 General Election.

"For personnel who are deployed by two-thirds of the strength. Regarding mapping vulnerable areas, the dynamics will continue to grow, later we will convey the certainty," he said.

It is known that 2024 will be a political year where there will be three political agendas that will take place, namely the Presidential Election and the Election of Legislative Candidates (DPR and DPRD) on February 14, as well as the simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on November 27.
