In Front Of Thousands Of Students, Kasad Dudung Provides Young People To Face The Era Of Disruption

BANDUNG - The Army Chief of Staff (Kasad), General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, gave an important message to 3,700 new students of Pasundan University in the face of the Era of Disruption which was marked by unpredictable changes and the use of technology as the main force.

In his scientific oration at the Sabuga Building, Bandung, West Java, Monday, October 2, Kasad underlined the importance of maintaining national unity and integrity in the midst of this change.

He said, one of the changes that occurred in the era of the Disruption era was generation change.

"Currently (Generation Z) tends to actively interact in cyberspace, technology mastery is high, critical, but wants something instantaneous and the character gives up easily. Unlike the past, all of which require hard work," said Kasad.

Kasad also highlighted the fact that of the current 215.6 million internet users in Indonesia, around 142 million of them are Generation Y and Generation Z.

The use of social media by these two generations carries risks, especially when social media is used for provocation, the spread of SARA issues, fake news (hoaxes), and fighting events. Kasad emphasized that this is dangerous without adequate literacy culture, because it can trigger communal conflict.

"This is important for me to convey to the students, because we still have to maintain unity and integrity, so that we are not divided," he explained.

He said, through the history of the nation's struggle, it can be understood that this nation stands thanks to the struggle. Diversity as the foundation, unity and integrity as the pillar, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia as the roof.

Scientific Oration Kasad is part of the open session of the Pasundan University Senate in the context of the inauguration of a new student at Pasundan University and the Introduction of Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the academic year 2023/2024.

In addition, Kasad also received the Sinatria Abhitah Praditya (Smarty and Smart Knight) award which was handed over by the Chancellor of Pasundan University Eddy Jusuf accompanied by the General Chairperson of PB Pasundan and the Chairman of YPT Pasundan.
