Moeldoko Affirms It's Time For Indonesian Young People To Develop Green Energy

Dr. Moeldoko was a speaker at the Bloomberg Technoz Ecofest event at the WestIn Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday 27 September.

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff, Dr. Moeldoko said Indonesian youth have an important role in developing a green economy in Indonesia, apart from being the effect of global economic development but also in order to reduce the negative effects of climate change. The younger generation is encouraged to study and understand the green economy sector, namely the economic sector that combines welfare with environmental conservation.

"The economy is now transforming into a green economy, of course, this young generation needs to be involved, firstly building awareness, secondly being involved in it and thirdly taking advantage too," said Moeldoko at the Bloomberg Technoz Ecofest event at the WestIn Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday 27 September.

Furthermore, in its potential, Moeldoko assessed that the green economy is an opportunity for young people to take a position in green economic activities. In addition to being able to be done in daily life such as waste management and reducing the use of personal transportation, the involvement of the younger generation can also be carried out by utilizing the economic green potential in a commodity.

"Green economy opens two branches, a policy side and a commodity side that can be played by various parties, including young people," added Moeldoko.

Speaking of emissions, Moeldoko assessed that this was still a new thing that needed to be learned further, but from the government side, the government had issued regulations governing emission suppression. Not only from the regulatory side, currently the government has also issued the Indonesian Carbon Exchange.

"We can make a profit of up to 3,000 trillion (from the carbon market), young people should not only look at the pessimism but also take advantage," continued Moeldoko.

He added, related to the potential for green economy employment opportunities for young people who have the potential to be included in the agricultural, tourism and energy sectors. Including various startups that are now widely looked at by young people in business development from various sectors.

"This country is not only managed by the government, but all stakeholders must be involved, including young people as well," concluded Moeldoko.
