Bareksrim Examines 46 Witnesses In The Panji Gumilang TPPU Case, Former YPI To BPN Indramayu

The Directorate of Special Economic Crimes at Bareskrim Polri continues to investigate the alleged series of cases of alleged money laundering (TPPU) with the suspect Panji Gumilang. So far, 46 witnesses have been questioned.

"Investigators from Bareskrim Polri examined 46 witnesses," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Monday, September 25.

Dozens of witnesses, with details from the Indonesian Islamic Boarding School Foundation (YPI) as many as 7 people, former YPI 4 people, and the head and treasurer of Madrasa MI MTS MA as many as 5 people.

There were also about 15 funders and 9 recipients of funds. The examination of the witnesses was carried out during the investigation and investigation stage.

"One person is JTrust Investment, one person is Dukcapil, one person is Indramayu Regency, one person is BPN Indramayu, one person is BPN Bekasi City, one person is notary, one person is expert in the foundation," said Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, in handling this case, investigators have confiscated assets belonging to Panji Gumilang, such as 147 accounts that have been blocked and 220 land books.

The alleged case of TPPU Panji Gumilang has been upgraded to the investigation stage. This means that it is believed that there was a criminal offense that occurred.

Panji Gumilang is suspected of violating Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2020 concerning the Crime of Money Laundering which carries a penalty of 20 years.

Then, the Criminal Code of the Article 70 Foundation in conjunction with Article 5 of Law Number 28 of 2004 concerning amendments to Law Number 16 of 2021. The penalty is 5 years in prison.

The crime of embezzlement of Article 372 of the Criminal Code carries a penalty of 8 years and a criminal act of corruption under Article 2 of the Corruption Eradication Law.
