Arsul Sani Undergoes Feasibility Tests For Candidates For Constitutional Court Judges, Chairman Of Commission III Alludes To Political Interests

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR from the PPP faction, Arsul Sani, underwent a fit and proper test as a candidate for judge of the Constitutional Court (MK) today.

Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul said that his party wanted to see if Arsul deserved to be a judge of the Constitutional Court or not.

"Number one, fit and proper, it means that the fit is right, proper, it's not worth it, it's not certain to have a size, today what's difficult is to make a fit, whether it's appropriate or not. Now fit is fit or not, it's not fit yet with his position, right," said Bambang at the DPR building, Monday, September 25.

"But later you follow the fit and proper test, is this person capable of being able or not," he continued. Bambang said that the Constitutional Court judge not only had to understand the law but also politics. Therefore, Commission III will really see what Arsul Sani has. "Right, this is a fit and proper test is open, because the Constitutional Court judge has political interests in addition to legal interests. So it is a marriage between pure law and political policy. Therefore, there is a time for us for the Constitutional Court judges to understand political decisions. We recall that the DPR has the authority for that," he said.

Bambang assessed that there would definitely be a conflict of interest in the fit and proper test against Arsul. However, he again reminded whether or not Arsul Sani was a judge at the Constitutional Court would be known after undergoing a fit test.

"There is nothing in this world that has no conflict of interest. Conflict of interest exists but whether it's worth it or not, that's the important thing to be opo ora, how come I have a crush on wong ayu, have a crush, shouldn't it be that it's someone's wife, that's what it's like, understand?" he concluded.
