YOGYAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is doing trial of account-based ticketing (ABT) on the Jakarta MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta via the Jaklingko application. So what is account-based ticketing?

"Last week we carried out a trial. In principle, the ABT feature in the Jaklingko application is quite good," saidt the Head of the DKI Transportation Service, Syafrin Liputo, after the Commission B of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) meeting in Bogor on Friday.

Reporting from ANTARA, in the trial, said Syafrin, there were minor technical obstacles. It is hoped that future implementation of this matter will be better in the near future.

He hopes that ABT will be able to obtain biodata and find out the travel traces of all public transportation users from mass transportation such as the MRT, LRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta.

This ABT will later be formed in an application by installing a bar code so that whether or not there is an electronic money card (KUE), customers will still be able to use this mode of transportation as long as there is a balance.

For example, lost CAKE can be automatically replaced by re-entering the card number in the ABT application and the balance will not be lost. The implementation of ABT, he said, is to streamline the public service obligation (PSO) subsidies provided by the DKI Provincial Government by adjusting data collection at locations.

"We will play with this technology from ABT, then we will take into account the efficiency and effectiveness of implementing PSO provision in the future," he explained.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government established PT Jaklingko Indonesia (PT JLI) which was given the mandate to implement integrated transportation mode services that can be accessed using the Jaklingko application and Transportation Card.

Currently, PT Jaklingko Indonesia is building an account-based ticketing (ABT) system that is able to apply public transport subsidies to make it more efficient. Operating TJ, MRT, and LRT costs a total of around IDR 7 trillion a year. The DKI Provincial Government annually spends around IDR 4 trillion in the form of PSO to ensure ticket costs are affordable.
