Water Bombing Operation Continued To Overcome The Sarimukti Bandung TPA Fire

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Java Province has again received the assistance of a water bombing helicopter from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to overcome the fire at the Sarimukti TPA, Bandung Regency.

"We are also assisted by BNPB, namely by bombing water using helicopters that have actually been carried out in the emergency response activity of West Bandung Regency," said Head of Prevention and Preparedness of West Java BPBD Edy Heryadi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 22.

He explained that the extinguishing and cooling activities using water bombing helicopters will be focused on hotspots that still have the potential to burn land in other areas around the Sarimukti TPA.

Edy said the extinguishing activity using this helicopter would last until next Monday.

"Starting last Thursday, these activities have been carried out, hopefully today there will also be water bombing activities carried out by BNPB at Sarimukti TPA," he said.

In addition, he said his party was also working with the Geological Agency Team to check the hotspots and the contents of the methane gas in the pile of burned garbage using the Thermal Drone technology.

"So besides that, we also involve the Geological Agency Team to check with the Thermal Drone specifically to take pictures of the spread of hotspots that are still in the Sarimukti TPA land zone," he said.

He explained that the function of the Thermal Drone technology is to see the spread of hotspots that can make it easier for his party to take extinguishing measures.

"So we don't feel like that, where is the hotspot, because the depth of the garbage at the Sarimukti TPS is more than 50 meters," said Edy.
