Sightings Of Large Floods In Malinau, Kaltara

TANJUNG SELOR - Floods have occurred again in several areas of Malinau Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara).

This flood caused two houses to be washed away and public facilities severely damaged in Mentarang District, Malinau.

"This flood is due to high rainfall for several days, causing water from the Kayan River Hulu, Malinau Regency to overflow," said Head of Prevention and Preparedness of the Kaltara BPBD, Alfian Pakiding, Friday, September 22.

The massive flood that hit a number of villages in Malinau Regency was a flood of shipments that occurred in a period of several years.

"The water level is varied. Next we will also go to the Mensalong area to monitor the flooding there, because it is suspected that it is in a worse condition than the one in Malinau City," he explained.

The Kaltara Provincial BPBD team has been at the flood site since Thursday, (21/9) to Mansalong and Sembakung, with assistance.

"As for the team to Malinau this morning, they have also headed to a location in Malinau," explained Alvian.

It is also known that there are five flood sub-districts, namely Sembakung, Atulai, Lumbis, Krayan Induk and West Krayan sub-districts. To this day the floods have not subsided.
