Spokesperson Anies Baswedan: The Door Of The Coalition For Open Changes For The Democratic Party

Spokesman Anies Baswedan Sudirman Said said the door to the Coalition for Change would continue to be open to returning to cooperation with the Democratic Party.

"So we are very open, even on various occasions Pak Anies and Pak Muhaimin had also said they had high hopes for the Democratic Party, even if we don't work together with the coalition, we work together on big agendas that we definitely need a lot of energy," said Sudirman Said quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, September 16.

According to Sudirman, building Indonesia cannot be done only by the president and vice president.

Therefore, his party opened the door for all parties to build the nation together with the Coalition for Change.

"Building this nation, arranging this nation, a very large job, it is impossible for two individuals to complete it, the names of the presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as the three parties," he said.

The presidential candidate pair (bakal capres) Anies Baswedan and the prospective vice presidential candidate (bakal cawapres) Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin are currently being promoted by the Change Coalition consisting of the NasDem Party, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

In the 2019 Legislative Election, the NasDem Party received 12.66 million votes (9.05 percent) and 59 seats in the DPR, PKB received 13.57 million votes (9.69 percent) and 58 seats and PKS won 11.49 million votes (8.21 percent) and 50 seats in the DPR.

The total votes acquired by the three coalition parties for the Change Coalition in the 2019 Legislative Election were 37.72 million votes. Meanwhile, the coalition of the three political parties has a total of 167 seats or far above the provisions of a minimum limit of 115 seats in the DPR as a condition for the presidential threshold.

Registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.

However, the KPU plans to advance the registration schedule for presidential and vice-presidential candidates, from October 19 to October 10-16, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI.

It is also possible for candidate pairs to be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
