Limited Supplies, Heru Budi Asks Subordinates to Modify Water Mist Equipment

JAKARTA - Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono asked his staff to make a water mist generator so that it can immediately be installed in all buildings belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Remember, until now the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has not been able to mass-produce water mist.

"On the 11th of next week, all local government offices will be able to (operate water mist). Even though BRIN has limited equipment, they can modify it. Like at City Hall, we have modified it," said Heru when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 10.

With this modification, Heru hopes that all regional government offices with high floors will be able to operate air pollution removal devices by September 11.

"Currently, I haven't received any reports from the mayors. Maybe tomorrow, as soon as possible, the tall buildings will have water mist because it's for us together," said Heru.

Previously, Head of the Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Division of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Service, Erni Pelita Fitratunnisa, admitted that the supply of water mist equipment that had been produced was still limited.

Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono required hundreds of privately owned high-rise buildings and DKI Provincial Government buildings to install water sprayers into the air.

The building management, admitted Fitri, is also ready to buy the equipment which was purchased for around IDR 50 million.

"Private buildings are ready to provide their own water mist. The only obstacle is the availability of generators," said Fitri at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, September 8.

Fitri also said that currently, the number of privately owned tall buildings that have installed water mist is only 3 buildings. Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting hundreds of private buildings to have purchased and installed air spray equipment before September 11.
