Failed To Smuggle Illegal Drugs In Yogyakarta Narcotics Prison, Food Mixed Mode

JAKARTA - Yogyakarta Class II A Narcotics Prison officers managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle illegal drugs by prisoners or inmates (WBP) in the prison.

Head of Yogyakarta Class II A Narcotics Prison Ramdani Boy said the smuggling of illegal drugs was planned by inmates with the initials MK and MDS by mixing them into the food their families brought.

"The smuggling of the drug with their mode ofgerus or mixed into food. As a result of our investigation, 150 grains of tramadol they exploded in rice," he said, quoting Antara.

According to Ramdani, this mode was used by the Constitutional Court and MDS so that prisoners who lived in one block could feel the drug together.

However, prison officers managed to carry out early detection after obtaining information about an attempt to smuggle illegal drugs.

The smuggling plan was successfully detected from the wiretapping of telephone talks through Wartelsus, which is a prison facility used by inmates to contact the families of the inmates.

"Because we already know the initials of the assisted residents, then we wait for their families to happen to be their wives and parents who visit," said Ramdani.

The visitor with the initials TS who is the wife of the Constitutional Court brought rice, fried noodles, and brongkos vegetables that had been mixed with Yarindo, while the visitor with the initials WA who was the mother of MDS brought rice and oseng ati ampela.

The officers then secured TS and WA for questioning.

TS claimed to have mixed 150 Yarindo pills into rice, while WA stated that it had received a deposit from someone outside the prison to be given to MDS, but admitted that he did not know that the food deposited had been mixed with drugs.

After further investigations were carried out, he said, there were two other inmates besides the Constitutional Court and MDS who were involved in smuggling, namely SP and F.

"Meanwhile, a block inhabited by the inmates cannot be visited," he said.

The four inmates were placed in isolation cells for examination purposes, while the two visitors involved were asked for their identities to proceed with the examination process with the Sleman Police.

On Friday (8/9) evidence was submitted related to the case from the Yogyakarta Class IIA Narcotics Prison to the Sleman Police.

Head of the Correctional Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, DIY Gusti Ayu Putu Suwardani, appreciated the ranks of the Yogyakarta Class IIA Narcotics Prison for moving quickly and thwarting attempts to smuggle illegal drugs.

"Apresiasi untuk Petugas Lapas Narkotika Yogyakarta yang bergerak cepat dan berhasil mengelangkan upaya penyelundupan barang terbaru tersebut. Tetap waspada dan terus lakukan tiga Kunci Pemasyarakatan Maju, yaitu deteksi dini gangguan kamtib, berantas narkoba, dan sinergi dengan parat penegak hukum," ujar Gusti Ayu.
