Call South Korea Partnership Of The Future, President Jokowi Emphasizes Four Things

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said there are a number of things that must be done to realize the future partnership between ASEAN and South Korea.

President Jokowi said, for Indonesia, the ASEAN-South Korea partnership is a partnership of the future, with the main pillars of energy transition and digital transformation.

"ASEAN's dependence on 78 percent of fossil energy sources must be reduced," said President Jokowi when opening the ASEAN-South Korea Summit in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 6.

At the same time, President Jokowi continued, in the next decade, the asean digital economy is estimated to account for 1 trillion US dollars GDP ASEAN region.

"However, the transition of energy and digital transformation requires investment and technology transfers that are not small, so collaboration and partnerships are needed to make it happen," he said.

"In addition to the economic side, future partnerships can only be achieved if regional stability is maintained, if tension and rivalry are lowered, if strategic trust is strengthened and if the habit of cooperation is increased," he explained, adding "This is the responsibility of all of us in the Indo-Pacific region".

On this occasion, President Jokowi appreciated South Korea's support for the ASEAN-Indo Pacific Forum. At this summit, the Ginseng Country delegation was led by President Yoon Suk-yeol.

"This is a tangible manifestation of inclusive cooperation to maintain stability and welfare in the Indo-Pacific region," concluded President Jokowi.
