Dozens Of Victims Of The West Pasaman Talamu Earthquake Came To The Regent's Office To Question Assistance

The head of the National Unity and West Pasaman Politics, Defi Irawan, accompanied by the police, welcomed the residents of Kajai, Talamau District, on behalf of earthquake victims / Antara / Altas Maulana.

PASAMAN BARAT - Dozens of people on behalf of earthquake victims Kajai, Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra visited the local regent's office to question the assistance of earthquake victims they had not received.

"Today we went to the regent's office to ask why the earthquake victims had not yet been received," said one of the victims of the Mas Hendy earthquake at Simpang Empat as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.

He considered that the West Pasaman Regency Government was very slow in dealing with earthquake relief problems.

"The rights of earthquake victims so far have not been distributed, it has been more than a year since the earthquake that occurred on February 25, 2022," he said.

According to him, there were around 300 earthquake victims in 2022 in West Pasaman who had not received assistance

"The regent must immediately recommend a central fund of IDR 50 million per person for heavily damaged houses so that they are immediately disbursed," he said.

In addition, for houses that were heavily damaged, moderately and lightly, which had been re-registed, a decree was immediately made.

If their demands have not been granted then they will remain in the regent's office.

"We have prepared provisions during the action this month until September 30, 2023," he said.

They came to the regent's office to question the assistance of earthquake victims because the West Pasaman Regency Government's promise from the results of the last meeting would be completed on August 1, 2023. However, the reality is that it has not yet been completed.

Head of the National Unity and Politics of West Pasaman, Defi Irawan, when welcoming earthquake victims, said that the technical team from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) was currently collecting data on earthquake victims in Talamau District.

"All verification teams are currently on the ground. Hopefully, it will be finished soon," he said.

He also said that if the public wanted to meet and discuss with the regent, they would be waiting for Wednesday (6/9) afternoon.

"Let's discuss what the solution will be so that this problem can be resolved quickly," he said.
