Village Art Performance Leads to Stabbing, Men Carry Folding Knives Herded to the City of Magelang Police Headquarters

CENTRAL JAVA - Magelang City Police (Polres) detained RS (31), the perpetrator of the stabbing of MI (25). The stabbing occurred when an art performance was being held in Karanggading Village, early Sunday, August 20.

"In less than 24 hours, we managed to secure the perpetrator along with evidence in the form of a penknife at his house," said the Magelang City Police Chief AKBP Yolanda Evalyn Sebayang at a press conference at the Magelang City Police Headquarters, Central Java, Tuesday, August 22, confiscated by Antara.

The police chief explained that the victim intended to break up the commotion that occurred in the middle of an art performance. However, he was involved in a dispute with the hospital perpetrator who immediately took out a penknife and then stabbed it at the victim three times.

"As a result of the dispute, the victim suffered injuries to his stomach, left temple and back of head," he said.

In order to be held accountable for his actions, RS, who is a resident of South Rejowinangun, Magelang City, is subject to Article 170 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 351 of the Criminal Code which carries the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 9 years.

Yolanda appealed to the public, especially in Magelang City, to jointly create a city situation that is safe, comfortable, and conducive.

"I appeal to the public to be able to restrain themselves and not be easily provoked if there is a commotion," he stated.
