Golkar Offers Names Airlangga And Ridwan Kamil Accompany Prabowo's Presidential Candidates

JAKARTA - Golkar Party DPP chairman Dave Akbarshah Fikarno Laksono said that his party offered two names as candidates for vice president (cawapres), namely Airlangga Hartarto and Ridwan Kamil. This was after Golkar joined the coalition with the Gerindra Party, PKB, and PAN brought Prabowo Subianto as a candidate for president (candidate). "We are still discussing to get the position of vice presidential candidate. Golkar has a number of cadres, apart from Airlangga, there is Ridwan Kamil," said Dave in the parliament complex, Jakarta, Wednesday 16 August.Dave said that Golkar is still exploring with a coalition party to propose its best cadre to become a vice presidential candidate. According to him, Golkar adhered to the results for the presidential/cawapres candidate position. However, to anticipate the political dynamics, his party prepared the names of other cadres. "Golkar holds on to the results of the national election. For example later (with coalition parties) it could lead to one (Airlangga or Ridwan Kamil), we see developments because the dynamics is still ongoing," he said. For the position of the vice president, he continued, Golkar adhered to agreement with coalition partners to achieve the best results. Previously, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and the National Awakening Party (PKB) together with the Gerindra Party have a coalition declaring Prabow Subianto as the presidential candidate in the 2024 election. The political cooperation signature as well as the declaration of the Prabowo Subianto presidential candidate was held at the Proclamation Script Museum in Central Jakarta, Sunday (13/8). In Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu) it is stated that pairs of presidential/vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential/vice-presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
