Gunshots Were Heard, KKB Disturbed Paskibraka Training In Ilaga, Central Papua

JAYAPURA - Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benni Prabowo, said that there was a security disturbance carried out by the KKB when Paskibra members carried out exercises at Trikora Ilaga field, Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

"It is true that during the exercise at Trikora Ilaga field, there was a gunshot that was allegedly carried out by the KKB," said Kombes Benni as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 15.

Shortly after the sound of gunfire, Paskibra members who were practicing in the context of raising and lowering the flag of the Indonesian Independence Day to 78 immediately secured themselves to the Puncak Police Station in Ilaga.

From the reports received, the sound of gunfire that was heard at around 10:45 WIT was heard from the north, namely in a green house in the south of the field.

The TNI-Polri security forces who were around the location immediately returned fire at the source.

After the situation was safe, Puncak Police personnel returned to the field to identify and check the former shots found holes on the wall of the Trikora field stage.

"There were no casualties in the incident," said Kombes Benni.

Security forces are still investigating the shooting case.

"The public is advised to remain calm and provide support to the TNI-Polri apparatus in an effort to maintain the security and security situation in Puncak Regency," said Benni.
