Summons of Supreme Court Judge Gazalba Saleh in the Gratification and Money Laundering Cases Still Waiting for Time

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still completing its investigation into alleged gratuities and money laundering by the non-active Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh. This reason has made investigators yet to summon him to be detained again.

"Later we will inform you further (Gazalba Saleh's summons, ed) when the investigation is complete," said Head of KPK Reporting Section Ali Fikri to VOI, Thursday, August 10.

It is believed that Gazalba will not run away even though he has now been acquitted in the bribery case. "We are sure those concerned will cooperate," said Ali.

Previously, Gazalba was acquitted in a trial on alleged bribery in handling cases at the Supreme Court (MA). The KPK is considered to have insufficient evidence.

In this case, Gazalba was demanded 11 years in prison by the Public Prosecutor (JPU). He was allegedly proven guilty of accepting a bribe of SGD 20,000 for handling cases at the Supreme Court.

Public Prosecutor Wawan Yunarwanto said that the charge was made based on the conclusion of the facts at trial, starting from the testimony of witnesses, letters of evidence, to the evidence presented.

"In order for the panel of judges to decide, declaring the defendant Gazalba Saleh proven legally and convincingly guilty. Sentenced a sentence of 11 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1 billion, subsidiary of 6 months in prison," said Wawan at the Bandung Corruption Crime (Tipikor) Court, Thursday, July 13.

Even so, the anti-corruption commission continues to investigate allegations of gratuity and money laundering. He is likely to be summoned and arrested in the case.
