Detainees At The Rutan Complaints Lukas Enembe, This Is The KPK's Follow-up

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that it would communicate with officers at the Red and White branch of the Detention Center. They are trying to resolve the complaints of the prisoners because of the condition of the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe.

"We will immediately communicate with the KPK detention center to ensure the settlement of the condition in question," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Monday, August 7.

Ali said the KPK had received a letter of complaint from the detainees. In it, 20 detainees including John Irfan Kenway, a defendant in the corruption case in the procurement of the AW-101 Helicopter, stated that they were disturbed by the habit of Lukas defecating carelessly.

However, Ali said Lukas' condition was actually not serious. This is because the doctor of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) stated that he was able to account for his actions in court.

"Based on the results of the examination by the doctor PB IDI dated July 31, 2023, it is concluded that the defendant Lukas Enembe is considered to be good for a trial process or fit to stand trial," he said.

In addition, prison officers often check the condition of the detainees, including Lukas. "And (check, red) the security of the detainees," said Ali.

Previously, dozens of residents of the KPK Detention Center (Rutan) Merah Putih building branch complained about the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe who likes to urinate carelessly or carelessly due to his disturbed health. This condition is called dangerous.

This complaint was submitted by detainees via letter to the Lukas Enembe Legal and Advocacy Advisory Team (TPHALE). One of those who complained about the condition of the inactive regional head was John Irfan Kenway, a defendant in the AW-101 helicopter procurement corruption case.

"The following actions or actions have made us MP prisoners uncomfortable and are also very likely to pose a danger to our health, namely urinating in our pants in bed, urinating in our pants in a chair in the room together, trying to the floor or where he is," the letter said Friday, August 4.

The detainees also said that Lukas had never cleaned himself up after defecating and sleeping on a mattress that had never been cleaned or smelled of pesing. As a result of this condition, mutual cooperation prisoners helped such as bathing and serving food.

However, they cannot do this effort continuously. The reason is that the prisoners in the detention center have their own business.

Furthermore, the detainees hope that Lukas will receive treatment from a doctor or medical team. Even if necessary, take him to the hospital.

"Allow us to be busy with our own problems, which we feel are already very heavy and are no longer disturbed by feelings of guilt because we feel that we are letting Mr. Lukas Enembe with all his limitations," he said.
