Panji Gumilang Berdalih Is Sick, Bareskrim Reschedules Examination August 1

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has rescheduled the examination of the head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, at the beginning of next week.

Panji Gumilang was previously scheduled to provide information on Thursday, July 27. However, he was not present because he was sick.

"We sent a second summons, namely we summoned as witnesses and it is hoped that tomorrow on August 1, the person concerned can be present to fulfill our summons," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro to reporters, Friday, July 28.

During the examination later, Panji Gumilang will be asked to explain all matters related to the alleged blasphemy against him.

In addition, the examination of Panji Gumilang as the reported party is also to complete the obligations of the National Police as formal in handling a criminal case.

"We call as witnesses to explain what was the act or what was alleged by the complainant," he said.

When asked about the potential for Panji Gumilang to not fulfill the second summons, Djuhandani was reluctant to comment. Including the possibility that investigators will take forced pick-up action.

According to him, the investigative team will take all actions according to the rules in handling cases.

"Investigators have the authority to be implemented, of course, according to the provisions of the law, we will use the existing provisions or regulations," said Djuhandani.

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police previously stated that it doubted the doctor's letter attached to the Panji Gumilang legal team regarding the health condition of the head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School.

The doctor's letter was submitted to investigators as evidence that Panji Gumilang was sick and could not fulfill the summons for examination on Thursday, July 27, yesterday.

"However, it's just a doctor's letter that we think formally cannot be proven," said Djuhandani.
