Government Will Evaluate Zoning Implementation In PPDB

JAKARTA - Deputy for Coordination for Education Quality Improvement and Religious Moderation of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Warsito said the government would evaluate the implementation of zoning in New Student Admissions (PPDB).

Warsitom conveying a comprehensive evaluation needs to be done to follow up on complaints from the public regarding regulations and the implementation of the zoning system in PPDB.

He stated the government's plan to evaluate the implementation of the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 17 of 2017 concerning PPDB in kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, vocational high schools, or other equivalent forms.

In addition, according to him, the maximum PPDB socialization will be carried out in October to make it easier for local governments to convey changes to PPDB regulations.

Warsito said the ministry would also coordinate with related parties two to three months before the implementation of PPDB so that local governments could prepare steps to prevent fraud in the process of accepting new students.

"Local governments are expected to participate in the proactive implementation of PPDB," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.

According to Warsito, the Education Office should provide socialization regarding PPDB earlier in order to prevent problems from appearing in the implementation of new student admissions.

"There needs to be socialization of PPDB implementation in the first half for grades 6, 9, and 12," said Warsito.

If the socialization regarding the implementation of PPDB is carried out earlier, parents and prospective students can take into account the school options that can be taken.
