5 Illegal PMIs Going To Dubai Successfully Thwarted By Batam TIP Task Force

The Riau Islands Police (Kepri) Criminal Action Task Force (Satgas) thwarted the sending of five prospective illegal Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to Saudi Arabia and Dubai, as well as arrested two suspects with the initials ISR and AN. "There are five illegal PMI candidates that we have secured at Batam International Port, they plan to go to Singapore first, after that they are immediately sent to work to Saudi Arabia and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) without official documents by the two suspects," said Deputy Head of Task Force TPPO 1 who is also the Director General of the Riau Islands Police Kombes Pol Adip Rojikan quoted by ANTARA, Monday 19 June. He said the five illegal PMI candidates are planned to be employed as household assistants (ART) in the destination country. They were promised to get a salary of 1,200 dirhams to 1,500 dirhams or Rp. 4.5 million to Rp. 5.7 million per month. "While these two suspects made a profit of Rp. 8 million per person after the PMI Illegal candidate arrived at the destination country," he said. He mentioned that these two suspects had carried out illegal PMI delivery actions since 2019 until now.

"From 2019 until now, they have succeeded in dispatching illegal PMIs to Saudi Arabia and Dubai for approximately 100 people," he said. For his actions, the suspect was subject to Article 81 in conjunction with the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers as amended in Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation into Law.
