Garut Deputy Regent Wants To Make The Beauty Of The Cimanuk River Like In Europe

JAKARTA - Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman expressed interest in making the beauty of the Cimanuk River flowing along urban areas and a number of areas in Garut Regency, West Java arranged for the better so that it has beauty such as the concept of regional arrangement in European countries.

"Make the river like a page, because actually the river is very beautiful, which is beautiful with the road, the river is beautiful," Helmi Budiman said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

He said the Cimanuk River has its own charm as one of the largest rivers that passes through a number of areas including urban areas in Garut Regency.

However, the potential for the beauty of the river, he said, could not be developed because there were still many people who built their houses facing the road rather than into the river, even though the river scenery like in other countries was more beautiful.

"It's only for us because the river is still dirty so it's beautiful to face the road, but in the future, like many countries in Europe also go to the river," he said.

He revealed that the condition of the Cimanuk River is still being addressed, especially the quality of the water which is currently still dirty, so efforts are needed to involve many parties to make the Cimanuk River clean.

The efforts of the local government, he said, would propose cooperation with the foundation of a company operating in Garut to pay attention to environmental problems, especially the condition of the Cimanuk River water.

He hopes that the concern of various parties regarding the condition of the river in Garut can be the same as that of the Citarum River in Bandung with its program called "Citarum Harum".

"In order for the treatment of the Cimanuk River as treated to Citarum, we hope that if there is a 'Citarum Harum', Cimanuk Hirup'," he said.

He hopes that the effort to make the Cimanuk River clean will get support from all elements of society, one of which is public awareness by not throwing garbage into the river.

"At least our society should not litter," he said.
