KPK Can't Force Syahrul Yasin Limpo Monday Tomorrow Presents Calls, Why?

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) admits that it cannot force the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo to attend the summons on Monday, June 19 tomorrow. He was only asked to be present to provide information regarding the investigation into alleged corruption in the ministry he leads.

"This is an invitation to a request for information which means we are collecting information material. Normatively (Syahrul Yasin Limpo, ed) is still being investigated, not a witness," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Sunday, June 18.

This condition prevented the KPK from being able to forcibly pick up the NasDem Party politician for questioning, said Ali. "If the witness or suspect has attempted to force him," he said.

"(Meanwhile, ed) in the investigation process there is no attempt to force summons such as in the investigation, prosecution or trial," Ali continued.

Previously, the KPK confirmed the investigation into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture. This was in response to the circulating news that the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo along with two of his subordinates, KSD and HTA were also involved in allegations of corruption.

This action was carried out since early January. Dozens of people have been questioned, such as officials and state civil servants (ASN) at the ministry.

Furthermore, investigators tried to ask for information from Syahrul on Friday, June 16. It's just that he was not present because he served abroad, India.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo admitted that he had asked for a postponement until 27 June. However, the anti-corruption commission continues to schedule an examination on Monday, June 19.
