OKU Police Arrest Gang Of Perpetrators Of Cross-Regency Motorcycle Theft

PALEMBANG - Ogan Komering Ulu Resort Police (OKU), South Sumatra (Sumsel) arrested a gang of motorcycle theft perpetrators who often act in several districts in South Sumatra. "We arrested five perpetrators last night," said Head of Public Relations AKP Budhi Santoso in Baturaja, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 6. The five arrested perpetrators were RG (21), a resident of Simpang Sender, South OKU Regency, RA (18), FB (23), EF(21), and DO (32), all four of whom were residents of OKU Regency. The disclosure of this case was due to the foresight of members in the field while on patrol where they were suspicious of the movements of the two perpetrators, namely DO and FB while hanging out on the side of the road in front of the UB Mart gas station on the night of the arrest. At that time the two perpetrators were hanging out riding a Honda Beat motorcycle without a police plate. When interrogated, the two admitted that they were with three other colleagues who had stolen a motorbike in the Alfamart parking lot, Saung Naga Village, Baturaja Barat on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Armed with this information, the police immediately hunted down the other three perpetrators and were arrested on the same night. Furthermore, during the development, this gang admitted that they had also stolen motorbikes in other districts in South Sumatra, such as in East OKU and Tanjung Enim. In addition to securing the five perpetrators, he said, members in the field also managed to confiscate evidence of a motorbike, namely a Suzuki Satria FU motorcycle without a license plate, a Yamaha Mio motorcycle without a license plate, and a letter T key.

"We have secured the five suspects and are threatened with being charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a weighted penalty of more than five years in prison," he said.
