Prabowo Meets Jokowi This Afternoon, Gerindra: Ordinary Meeting

JAKARTA - The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, confirmed that Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet with President Joko Widodo today.

"I think this afternoon's meeting between Pak Prabowo and Pak Jokowi is a normal thing," Dasco said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 25.

He said the agenda for the meeting was carried out in the context of Prabowo as the Minister of Defense who was sitting in the Jokowi government cabinet.

"The meeting between the president and the assistant to the president as his minister, of course Pak Prabowo is often summoned and also often has to report programs that have been implemented," he said.

However, he admitted that he did not know whether the meeting was held because it was motivated by the direction of support provided by Jokowi to Prabowo or to follow up on Prabowo's increased electability based on the survey results.

Dasco also reiterated that the agenda for Prabowo's meeting with Jokowi was related to his job as a minister in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

"I don't know yet, but what is certain is that today's meeting is in the context of whether or not the work between the president and the minister is about work," he said.

Previously, on May 2, 2023. President Jokowi invited high-ranking coalition political parties to hold a meeting at the Merdeka Palace.

Present at the meeting were PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, Golkar Party Chair Airlangga Hartarto, Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto, Plt. PPP Chairman Mardiono, PAN General Chair Zulkifli Hasan, and PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar.

As for Sunday (14/5), Prabowo Subianto was one of the names of the people's deliberations submitted by the Chairman of the Jokowi Volunteer People's Consultative Committee (Musra), Panel Barus, to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the peak of the Musra.

"Mr. President, Musra has won three presidential candidates. The first is Mas Ganjar Pranowo, who is also the PDI-P presidential candidate. Second, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, General Chair of Gerindra. (Third) Mr. Airlangga Hartaro, General Chair of Golkar," said Chairman of the Steering Committee of Musra Indonesia Andi Gani Nena Wea when delivering a speech at the Istora Building, Jakarta.

Then on Friday (19/5), Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto was surprised and did not expect to receive support as a Presidential Candidate in 2024 from 15 volunteer groups Gibran Rakabuming Raka during a dinner at Angkringan Omah Semar Jajar Laweyan Solo, Central Java.

"We together with 15 volunteers from the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, are both committed to wanting Indonesia to be strong, safe and prosperous," said Prabowo.
