Governor Edy Says Repair Of North Sumatra Damaged Roads Takes IDR 5.5 Trillion

The Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi said that repairing district/city roads in this area requires a budget of approximately IDR 5.5 trillion.

Meanwhile, said Edy, the budget owned by the North Sumatra Provincial Government for road construction every year is around Rp. 300 billion to Rp. 400 billion.

"Indeed, we have 33,000 kilometers of district/city roads. There are 13,000 kilometers that are not suitable for the road. That is one road from 13,000 kilometers, one of which was visited by President Jokowi yesterday," he said in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 23.

Governor Edy calculated that road repairs per kilometer reached Rp5 billion, meaning that it needed Rp5.5 trillion to repair the 13,000 kilometer road.

"If we count 13,000 kilometers from Rp5 billion per kilometer, it means that it has more than Rp5.5 trillion. Now the president is helping Rp800 billion," he said.

The former Kostrad Commander also explained that the district/city roads that are prioritized for repairs are roads with totally damaged conditions.

"The demand for district/city roads that are completely damaged. The total damage to pass for the community is a minimum of IDR 5.5 trillion," he said.

North Sumatra has a provincial road of 3,005 kilometers. Of the total, said Edy, there are about 890 kilometers of roads that require serious attention.

However, said Edy Rahmayadi, North Sumatra only has a budget of 300 billion to 400 billion per year.

For this reason, Governor Edy targets that damaged roads in North Sumatra can reach a minimum condition of 69 to 75 percent.

"We need only up to 69 to 75 percent of the total length of our road. For that we need money, we have done a lot of things but we cannot, the people need that infrastructure," he said.
