The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa proposed to the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) that as many as 6,141 honorary teachers pass the passing grade to become government employees with a work agreement (PPPK).
"The total formation of PPPK needs for the 2023 fiscal year is 8,024. Among them are 6,141 teacher PPPKs. The remaining 1,883 are non-teaching PPPKs, consisting of 1,133 health workers and 750 technical personnel," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 10.
Khofifah explained, based on data from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), PPPK teachers passed the 2021 passing grade of 8,588 people. Only 2,047 people were appointed.
"So far, 6,141 teachers have passed the passing grade waiting for the availability of formations/needs. We will complete 6,141 teachers who have passed the passing grade to be proposed to be appointed in 2023," he said.
Referring to the Regulation of Menpan RB Number 20 of 2022 concerning the Procurement of PPPK for Teacher Functional Positions at Regional Agencies in 2022, it is stated that recruitment is carried out with a priority mechanism for those who have passed the passing grade in the 2021 selection with the order of former category II honorary staff, state honorary teachers, graduates of professional education for teachers and private honorary teachers.
"Thus, if there is a formation for all teachers to pass the passing grade, they can be appointed as PPPK," he said.

Khofifah emphasized that the commitment to submitting teachers to become PPPK is a form of gratitude for unsung heroes who have served and fought to educate the nation's next generation.
Moreover, through the struggle of the teachers, for four consecutive years, high school/vocational school graduates in East Java were ranked first nationally, received by State Universities without a test through the National Selection Based on Achievements.
"Thank you, the teachers have made many efforts, bringing the names of schools, East Java and Indonesia together," he said.
