Surya Paloh Considers It Unhealthy If Jokowi Interferes With The 2024 Presidential Election

Chairman of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh said it would not be healthy if President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) interfered in the affairs of the 2024 presidential election. As head of state he should have been able to position himself.

This statement was made by the Chairman of the NasDem Election Winning Sugeng Suparwoto. According to him, Surya Paloh did not agree with the way Jokowi did.

"Seeing that Mr. Surya saw that the things that had been going on when Mr. Surya observed were not healthy. That, it is even called unhealthy if this method," said Sugeng in Jakarta on Friday, May 5.

"Supposedly, I apologize, the president as head of government and at the same time the head of state must position as a statesman, you know," he continued.

It didn't stop there, Sugeng said the NasDem Party did not agree with President Jokowi's way of supporting or endorseing several figures. This assessment was delivered directly when Surya Paloh met the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Friday.

"The point is how to endorse one by one, in our opinion, it is not good. In the context of fussyness, it is in the general language," he said.

Luhut later accepted the assessment, Sugeng claimed. NasDem hopes that input can be given to President Jokowi so that political contestation can run well.

Sugeng asked to let the candidate for national leader fight in a healthy manner and go through a good political process. "We all love Pak Jokowi, love this republic," he said.

"If there is an disharmony because of one party, in this case, it is in favor of the other. Let the best sons and daughters compete through constitutional mechanisms and through a good political process. That was an affirmation," concluded Sugeng.
