Lawyer Lukas Enembe Has Been Named A Suspect In Allegation Of Obstructing Investigation

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named a lawyer who defended the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe as a suspect. He is suspected of obstructing the investigation process of alleged bribery, gratification, and money laundering (TPPU). "Based on the adequacy of the evidence that the KPK has, it has now improved in the process of new investigation by naming one lawyer as a suspect," said KPK's Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, May 3. Ali did not want to detail the full identity of the alleged corruption suspect. He only mentioned that the lawyer had the initials R and the full details would be conveyed in conjunction with the detention effort. "Indication of the alleged obstruction was carried out among others by providing advice to the suspect LE in order to be uncooperative in the legal process carried out by the KPK," he stressed. Furthermore, the R lawyer will be summoned by investigators but does not know the exact time. Ali asked for this suspect to be cooperative. "The progress will be conveyed," he stressed. Previously, the KPK asked the Directorate General of Immigration to prevent the lawyer of the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, Stefan Roy Rening and three other people abroad. This prevention was carried out so that the four people were cooperative when needed his statement. "Yes, in order to remain in the country and cooperative is present to fulfill the summons of the investigation team," said the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, April 26. In addition to Stefanus, the three other people who were prevented had not been detailed by Ali. He only mentioned two people were private parties while one was a civil servant (PNS).

However, based on information circulating, those prevented were Fredrik Banne, who is an employee of PT Tabi Bangun Papua; Head of PUPR Papua Province, Gerius One Yoman; and Commissioner of PT Nirwana Sukan. After being prevented, the four of them are expected to fulfill the summons of investigators from the anti-corruption commission. Moreover, the investigation into the bribery, gratification and money laundering (TPPU) cases that ensnared Lukas is still being investigated and developed by the anti-corruption commission.
